Against the backdrop of the Pacific Ocean, defending champion Ryan Palmer will tee it up against 143 of the world’s top golfers in the first full-field PGA TOUR tournament of the 2011 season.

The Sony Open has gained a reputation as a week of entertaining, fun-filled activities for community and tournament participants and spectators. On Monday, January 10, the “Drive Fore the Green” sponsored by Forum Engineering makes its debut on the 10th tee when seven PGA TOUR pros drive their ball onto the green from over 300 yards away. The Sony Dream Cup Pro-Am follows at 11 a.m. On Tuesday, professional practice rounds and the King Auto Group Pro-Jr. Skills Challenge (2:45 p.m.), featuring top junior golfers paired with PGA TOUR pros in a friendly skills competition highlight the tournament calendar with an exciting pre-show featuring SkyDive Hawaii to kick off the popular event. Wednesday through Sunday it's golf! golf! golf! Beginning with the Official Sony Open Pro-am followed by four rounds of stellar pro competition! Thursday – Sunday at Spectator Village, the tools to help you “live healthy” will be featured at the tournament’s new Go Healthy Lifestyles Pavilion where sponsor affiliates provide resources, interactive activities and demonstrations to help improve health through golf swing analysis, fitness sessions and tips about living healthy.
